4th of July Letter NEW PARADIGM ? Building a nation (and a world) our children's children will be proud to uphold, (or not all the 'monsters' live on the other side of the world.) On this 230th anniversary of our Declaration of Independence can we honestly say with regard to U.S. public policy world-wide, and specifically regarding the Holy Land, that " every path," or even that, "the highest road," has been chosen? We owe, at least, this mortal pledge--that when our nation "can go the extra mile," we have. As your only conservative gubernatorial candidate in Texas, I challenge the incumbent administration to at least build the partnership with Mexico necessary to secure our homeland; and I further challenge every school district in Texas to offer the Model United Nations program to every secondary school student and to primary school students as well. I challenge the TEA and the Higher Education Coordinating Board to develop distance learning (Internet) curriculum so that students can begin college level work while in lower grades. Finally I challenge all institutions of higher learning as well as organizations and leaders to create a virtual "think tank" to explore many important state and national issues. Can anyone truly proclaim America to be a free and independent democracy when "neoconservative" government officials blatantly pursue an elitist agenda, which abandons and exploits people regarding our own U.S. (and Texas) borders, and in the Holy Land; thereby disrespecting the rights of many, be they American or Mexican or Palestinian or Lebanese in the world community at large. Our suggestion about a new paradigm for the 21st century is not just the "beacon of Liberty" America radiates to the world, but also the legacy of moral fairness and balance that is so crucial for the most precious (newest) generation that is just beginning.......it is not the "monsters" in some other (foreign) political entity evoking the most fear, but the diabolical beast growing within our own 'body politic' that most undermines our future... |
